You're probably wondering if coding is for you or not. Maybe you've seen other people learning how to code, and when you look at them, they seem to understand the concepts really well and pick it up a lot faster than you. I see a lot of beginner programmers ask these kinds of questions, and this was actually a question that I asked myself when I was a lot younger.
I remember being a young kid; I had a TI-83, and I was trying to program a game for it. My friends had games on their TI-8+’s, and I wanted to build applications like those they were playing with. There was a snake game in my calculator, and the nice thing about it was that you could see the source code for the game. So I thought maybe I could look at the source code and learn how to program a game like that. But when I looked at the source code, I was just overwhelmed by how many lines of code were in there. It was so hard to understand, hard to read, and I wondered if I could ever code a game like that.
I think this question is really important to you because you're trying to see if you can switch into software development as your career. You don't want to invest too much time into coding if you're not really geared or if you don't have the skills or the DNA to learn how to code. You don't want to invest all that time unless you know for sure that you can actually learn how to code and be like other software developers.
So for this video, I'm going to answer the question, "Is coding for you?" and how you can know for sure. I actually had a client ask me this question the other day, so I know it's a really important one. I'll tell you what I told my client the other day, and that is: I truly believe that anyone can learn how to code, even you.
I'm going to go through three examples of what programming is like so that you can have a general idea of what programming is like. By explaining this, I'll help you determine how you can know for sure if coding is right for you.
