Kyoto is also one of the more naturally beautiful cities in Japan. You can travel through its bamboo grove, visit its botanical gardens, or just walk along its rivers. Get the best view by going to one of the highest places in the city, Kyoto Tower. It also offers features such as a hotel.

If you love Japanese food, you’ll have culinary experiences you could have only dreamed of in Kyoto. You could try a vegetarian Shojin Ryori meal at a temple, eat ramen alone at Ichiran, or even try potentially poisonous pufferfish! If you came to soak up the culture of the country, you won’t be disappointed. Many of the best things to do in Kyoto have been going on for centuries. Watch a geisha dance, go to the historic Nijo Castle, or take part in a tea ceremony. Manga lovers can also take time out to read at the International Manga Museum.

Getting a unique souvenir before you leave is easy thanks to the city’s many specialty shops. Go to Artisugu in the Nishiki Market to buy a custom-made knife or get coil goods at Kaanami-Tsugi.
Hop in a rickshaw if you’re running out of energy to check off your itinerary. You can even go on the Sagano Romantic Train Route if you’ve brought along a special someone.
