Domestic Abuse is motivated by one common denominator, the desire for control. This can manifest itself in many ways as seen in this video. Abuse isn't always violent, but regardless it can seriously affect a person's well-being, whether that be a restricted social life, to the extent of rape becoming a regular occurence.
Those who ask why victims don't just leave their partners, circumstances such as forced pregnancy may go some way to explaining that. Not to mention the emotional ties victims have with their partners, the remorse that may be shown after each incident, but also what other option is there? Where do the victims go then and who can be trusted?

Stalking, rape and violence are all forms of abuse that can occur in a domestic environment as a means of control. Incidents of physical violence against women students range from being slapped, shoved, pushed or having hair pulled, which is the most common form of physical abuse, to having a weapon such as a knife or gun used against them. 21% of respondents to the Hidden Marks Report (2010) said they had been subjected to at least one of a number of behaviours listed to them.
