F-Droid has issues. Using this method is a way to completely bypass using F-Droid to install open source apps. You should at least be aware of them before deciding to use it as a source for your apps. The F-Droid app repository is a remarkable way to get apps instead of using the Google Play Store. It has some downsides that could compromise your thread model.
Similar to the Google Play Store in terms of functionality, F-Droid is an Android app store and software repository. Only open source and free applications are available in the project's primary repository. Without creating an account, users can browse, download, and install applications from the F-Droid website or client app. In app descriptions, "Anti-Features" like advertising, user tracking, or reliance on proprietary software are denoted.
Over 3,800 apps are listed on the F-Droid website as hosted; there are about 3 million apps listed in the Google Play Store. The project includes a number of software side projects.
F-Droid creates apps using freely downloadable and publicly accessible source code. Although the project claims that it is solely administered by volunteers and does not have a formal app review procedure, some contributors have received compensation for their efforts. User submissions or the creators themselves provide new apps, which must be free of proprietary software.
