How to isolate red fire ant colonies in the field, my reasearch (USA), News about colonies in Sicily
It's about how to isolate ant colonies of Solenopsis invicta from their nests in the field for research reasons. I practised that in 2009 in Louisiana (USA) for my studies on the mite Histiostoma blomquisti, which is phoretically close associated to winged alates, but in especially high numbers to active queens.
I also summariize new findings about established colonies, discovered for the first time in Europe (Sicily, Italy).
