That redesigned panel including Sound, Mouse and Touchpad, Accessibility, and Month picker, Users, Wacom, Region and Language, and others. The Network & Wi-Fi panels now use libnma’s own security widgets for managing connections.
GNOME Web GTK4 port with libadwaita changes arrives in GNOME 44. A lot of work was poured into this version. The user interface is now looks prettier and definitely adds more consistency to the desktop.
Nautilus aka GNOME Files 67% icons in grid view and tree view where you can expand to view the subfolders in a list view is finally back. It's disabled by the default, so you have to turn the option on from the Files preferences.
Other notable changes in Files include a new tab context menu showing new options such as "Close Other Tabs". If that's not enough for you, FortyFour ships paste data as image file which probably saves a few clicks to do "Save image as".
Another finally changes in GNOME 44 is the file picker has received a grid view after 18 years. This was only made possible by GTK4’s complete rewrite of its rendering system, and the introduction of highly performant and scalable list & grid widgets.

GNOME 44 will be shipped as the default desktop environment in upcoming Ubuntu 23.04 Lunar Lobster that released on April 20, 2023 and Fedora 38. Both distributions are under heavy development right now.
