MedStar Health patient Bob Cheek has aortic stenosis and was referred to Dr. John Wang for treatment. Aortic stenosis is a narrowing of the heart valve. He felt extreme fatigue and couldn’t do the things he was used to doing. Common symptoms of aortic stenosis include: chest pain, shortness of breath, lightheadedness and dizziness. Transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) is a minimally invasive procedure to fix the aortic valve. A TAVR procedure requires a very sophisticated team like the one at MedStar Health. Mr. Cheek felt better beginning the morning after his procedure, and his quality of life has significantly improved. He is back to his activities now and feels better than he has in many years.
