David had meniscus repair and missed sophomore year. With 3 1/2 months to train for Fargo, he got to work. With a fire in his belly, he earned 2nd and 3rd place All-American status in Freestyle and Greco respectively. His first tournament back was a local one to warm up in April. Then he won state in both styles before heading to Vegas to compete in 17U US Open. He competed well but was not physically prepared yet for this level of competition after being out a year. It was a great start to his return though.
In USA wrestling he is a cadet in 2023 and wrestled 145 lbs. most of the season. At Cadet duals he was still not in top physical condition but won many impressive matches. By the time Fargo came around, he was at his optimum weight, prime physical condition and mentally ready for the challenge. This comeback from 2 meniscus surgeries shows his heart, determination and love for the sport.
