In this video tutorial, I will teach you how to properly check the engine oil level.
Before the start of the video, I will say the basic rules! There are only 3 of them! Remember them.
1. Checking the oil level is carried out exclusively on flat areas, without a slope, when the car is level.
2. The oil level in the engine is checked in the morning when the car has not been working for a long time, that is, on a cold engine.
3. If you were in motion, let the motor cool down a little (about 10-15 minutes), the oil should drain into the crankcase and only after that proceed to check.
1. First you open the hood, the handle is near the driver, at the bottom left, you will hear a characteristic click.
2. Near the hood you are looking for a latch or lever to open it completely.
3. You need to get the oil dipstick, it looks as follows. Wipe it with a clean cloth or damp cloth that does not leave fibers. On it you will see the min and max marks.
4. Next, put the dipstick back into the engine all the way and wait a few seconds until the oil leaves a mark on the control dipstick.
5. Now you can remove the dipstick to check the oil level. Correct is considered the level that is between the control marks indicated by the words "min" and "max", the minimum and maximum, respectively. If the oil level is below the minimum “min” mark, add oil to the engine.
6. The oil level is normal, but if you take the manual for the car, the manufacturer at my oil level recommends adding 500 milliliters. What am I going to do now.
7. For my engine, the manufacturer recommends using oil from Castrol 5W-40 fully synthetic. (Synthetic oil). To understand what kind of oil your engine uses, call a service center or use the Google search.
8. For the convenience of pouring oil into the engine so that it does not spill, I make a watering can from a regular plastic bottle, cutting off the upper part with a knife. I unscrew the lid and the watering can is ready.
9. I open the engine cover and install the watering can. There are marks on the oil canister, with the help of them I will be guided so as not to fill in the excess. I added the necessary half a liter of oil, I take out a watering can and tighten the engine cover.
10. I wait a couple of minutes after filling the oil, the oil should drain into the crankcase. And again I take out the oil dipstick to check the oil level. The oil level is normal and does not exceed the maximum mark. I put the dipstick back and close the hood.
Congratulations! Now you have learned to check the oil level. Keep an eye on the oil level constantly, a low level will lead to engine breakdowns and major repairs may be waiting for you, which will significantly hit your pocket.
