Call of Duty Warzone crashing to desktop every few minutes getting you mad? After trying tens of non-working solutions I found this simple fix that helped me get the game running.
EDIT3: it seems that for some people, the renaming of ModernWarfare.exe file name while in game works. Thanks to user Daddledore from Reddit, here is a batch file that does this automatically.
Get to PasteBin (https://pastebin.com/tVirPcTN) hit the download button on top right side and save the script on your computer. Once saved, right click on it, then Edit, and change the line
set place=F:\Games\Call of Duty Modern Warfare
with the installation path you have. In my case it would be
set place=C:\Program Files (x86)\Call of Duty Modern Warfare
Just save the file, right click on it and select Run as administrator
PS: the script simply renames the ModernWarfare.exe filename and sets process priority. It should not impact anything else.
EDIT2: Since it seems some of the below solutions DID work for some people, I created another video showing you what to do, step by step. It might be worth checking it out: • CoD Warzone Crash Fix - [Multiple So...
EDIT: Since it seems there is not one working solution for everyone, I am listing here all of the things that worked for some others. I will keep this updated as soon as other working fixes come up.
1. Set apps as needing High performance
Press Windows button, then type Display Settings, all the way down find Graphics settings, select Browse and go to the installation folder. Select both the game exe and the game launcher and set their options as High Performance
2. Set page file size
Press Windows button, type Control Panel. Go to System, System, Advanced settings, Adanced Tab, Performance Settings, go to Advanced Tab, Virtual memory - Change, uncheck Automatically, then set Custom size 15000 to 30000.
3. Disable full screen optimization
Right click on shortcut and open file location (go exe folder). Right click on ModernWarfare.exe, select Properties, go to Compatibility tab and check Disable full screen
4. Set process priority as normal
With the game running, start Task manager, go to tab Details, look for ModernWarfare.exe, right click then Set Priority to Normal
5. Delete cache
Close Battle.net
Press Windows Button + R (same time) then type %programdata%.
Delete folder Blizzard Entertainment
Go inside NVidia Corporation folder, then inside NV_Cache. Select all files inside and delete them
Press Windows Button and type Disk Cleanup, uncheck all then check DirectX Shader. Run it.
6. Reinstall shader pack
In the game, go to options, Graphics, look for Reinstall Shader option
7. Force run with DirectX 11
In Battle.net select Options, then Game Settings, Check Additional command... , and ad d3d11 in the command line
UPDATE: I have two laptops, on the newer i7 9750h with RTX2070 I had absolutely no issues from the very beginning. Not a single crash for two full days. On the slightly older i7 4720HQ with GTX 960 I had crashes from the beginning. I managed to get it running after doing the settings from the video. Today it crashed again and I tried everything all over again until it finally worked.
My conclusions:
it affects slightly older machines, even if powerful.
it does work after several tries because
it is a random bug in the game
the server you are connected to kicks you out for whatever reason (bug, overloaded...)
connecting to a "good" server will let you run the game
In my case, once getting to the lobby, I was getting kicked out after about 2m30s. Once I passed that, I remained in the game for as long as I wanted.
Your best bet is to try reducing to maximum the performance settings (low, disabled on everything, except maybe textures on normal) then keep on trying to reconnect to the Warzone servers over and over again.
