An explanation of how we can find the sine and cosine of acute angles in a right triangle by using the complement of that angle. The trigonometric function of the complement of an angle is called a cofunction, and the sines and cosines are cofunctions of each other. We write sine and cosine terms, and cosine and sine terms. We find unknown angle measures that will satisfy an algebraic equation for the variable x.
