The best way to record animated gif screencasts in Ubuntu/Linux (LICEcap installation and tutorial).
Sadly, there is no great way to do gifs in Linux but so far the easiest and best way I have discovered is using LICEcap. Install LICEcap using Wine, and you are good to go!
