If you learn German, you might feel you have a different voice than in your native language. This is because German has a different placement, i.e. the vocal tract has a different configuration. For German, the voice “position” is in the front of your mouth, not your throat as in American English. Besides a further forward tongue position for most vowels, our larynx is usually higher in German than it is in American English. This is a rather difficult concept to grasp. That's why in this German pronunciation video, I teach you a straightforward way to change the position of your larynx to speak with different timbres, i.e. a brighter or darker voice.

🚨 Note: Placement is obviously not the only aspect affecting your accent. Some people find their voice changes automatically when speaking another language. However, in my experience, placement is an aspect almost every native speaker of American English learning German needs to work on.
