URGENT: New Amazon FBA Product Title Requirements from 21st January 2025
Amazon is introducing new product title requirements from 21st January 2025, and sellers who don't act now will find their product listings automatically updated by Amazon. These changes will apply to all marketplaces, including Amazon FBA UK.
Whether you're a beginner starting Amazon FBA in 2025 or an experienced seller, it’s crucial to familiarise yourself with the new Amazon product title guidelines.
Key Changes to Amazon Product Title Requirements:
• Character Limit: For most product categories, titles must not exceed 200 characters, including spaces.
• Prohibited Characters: Special characters such as !, $, ?, _, {, }, ^, ¬, and ¦ are not allowed unless part of the brand name.
• Keyword Repetition: Titles may not contain the same word more than twice, with exceptions for prepositions, articles, and conjunctions.
The third change is the most significant for existing sellers, as many worry this restriction will make it harder to optimise listings. Reducing the number of search terms in the product title could impact SEO strategies.
However, I think these changes are positive. Titles over 200 characters are rarely necessary, special characters often make titles harder to read, and limiting keyword repetition will discourage keyword stuffing and encourage cleaner, more reader-friendly titles.

Ultimately, titles that are concise, human-friendly, and clearly communicate your product's USP are likely to convert better than keyword-stuffed alternatives.
