When starting as a beginner learning to code, the last thing we think about is what it takes to get our first job.
We focus on tutorial after tutorial, and one day we reach the point where we feel like we know what we are doing.
We even get our first job interview. And to our shock and surprise, we do not get the job.
We were not ready for the interview.
There are many tips, but the one I would give is to learn and understand Javascript Data structures and algorithms. You don't have to be an expert but you need to be familiar.
The second tip is to join a site like https://www.codewars.com and start practicing how to solve programming problems.
The last tip for beginners is to learn to think about code on a whiteboard or paper and be able to write out solutions to the problem on hand.
Learning to code is hard, passing the interview is even harder.
So just like you do a tutorial for coding, you need to spend just as much time learning what it takes to pass an interview.
To sum up, if you have a college degree, it is good ( I don't ).
The next big three are, know your language, have a portfolio and practice mock job interviews.
With these tips, you are well on your way.
