In our previous videos, we explored the foundations of sentence structure, including the two fundamental types of clauses: Dependent and Independent clauses, and the structure of the simple sentence. Today, we dive into the second type of sentence according to structure: the compound sentence. We'll discuss three methods for creating compound sentences: firstly, using coordinating conjunctions (abbreviated as FANBOYS - For, And, Nor, But, Or, Yet, So) with a comma; secondly, employing transition words with a semicolon and a comma; and thirdly, using semicolons when two closely related independent clauses imply 'and'. With examples like 'Mom went to the market, and she will buy a new cooking pan' and 'Dina hurt her ankle; she cannot dance,' we'll illustrate these methods for crafting coherent compound sentences.
