Back in business! NASHWA wins the Tattersalls Falmouth Stakes
The classy Nashwa recorded her first victory of the season with a taking performance in the G1 Tattersalls Falmouth Stakes.
Ridden by regular partner Hollie Doyle, the four-year-old was dropped back to a mile for the first time in over 14 months and produced a power-packed performance to see off her rival in the top-level event.
Held up in the early stages of the contest, Nashwa (4/1) made stealthy headway approaching the two-furlong pole, travelling kindly in behind front-runners Astral Beau and Propserous Voyage.
Once finding daylight towards the stands' side rail in torrential rain at Newmarket, she kept on resolutely, putting her stamina to good use to record an emphatic five-length success.
The Ralph Beckett-trained Remarquee (11/2) kept on to take second, ahead of Even-money favourite Via Sistina.
Trained by John and Thady Gosden, Nashwa is now a three-time G1 scorer with her other victories at the top level coming in the Prix de Diane and the Nassau Stakes. The latter is her next intended target.
