James Dyson donates £35 million to create a state-of-the-art Prep School for Gresham’s.
Today, the James Dyson Foundation announces a further £35 million donation to Gresham’s School to create a cutting-edge Prep School. James Dyson received a full bursary from Gresham’s after his father – a Gresham’s teacher – passed away, allowing him to continue his education for free.
The donation funds the purchase and restoration of Grade II listed Holt Hall, set in 85 acres of ancient woodland, and the building of state-of-the-art STEAM facilities in a new, mirrored building. A Field Studies Centre and outreach programme at the site will also support local schoolchildren across North Norfolk.
James Dyson said: “I’m forever grateful for the generosity Gresham’s showed me when my father – who was Head of Classics at the school – died when I was nine. I’m so pleased to be able to support the school and to see it shaping incredible young people who go on and flourish.
