Hello everyone and welcome to my channel.
Renault started using the R-Link 2 System with cars produced in 2015. Starting from 2021, it has placed the Easy Link System in the cars it produces. The R-Link System was first used with software version v2. Later, along with LANR16, v3, v7, v8 and v9 software versions were installed on R-Link 2 devices and started to be used in Renault vehicles.
While LANR 16, that is, R-Link 2 main devices originally produced with v3, v7, v8 and v9 installed, are produced as both CarPlay and Android Auto compatible, LANR14, that is, Renault vehicles produced until 2015, 2016 and May 2017, and R-Link 2 Systems originally had V2 software installed and could be updated to version 7 using a special method in services. Later, the software could be updated up to version 9.0.37.21x with the appropriate methods and files.
While these R-Link 2 Systems produced between 2015 and 2017 May can be used by activating Android Auto as soon as they are updated to the v3 software version, Apple CarPlay cannot be used even if they are updated to the latest software version 9.0.37.21x. The reason for this is LANR14
The R-Link 2 device does not have a carplay compatible motherboard. Since the deficiency is hardware-related, it cannot be fixed software-wise.
So how do you know if the device in your car is carplay compatible? There is a very easy way to understand this. Just like in the video • RENAULT R-LİNK 2 CİHAZINIZ CARPLAY UY... If your HW gen version is Gen 2.0 and above, it means your main device is CarPlay compatible.
If it is HW Gen 1.1, just like my vehicle, your R-Link 2 Device is not Carplay compatible. Even if you change the USB on a device that is not CarPlay compatible, you cannot run Carplay. I found a way to run APPLE CARPLAY on LANR 14 R-Link 2 Devices that are Gen 1.1. I've been trying for a while. Screen refresh and touch sensitivity work stably, albeit with a slight delay.
You no longer need to replace the main device to have Apple CarPlay in your 2015-2017 Renault car that is not CarPlay compatible. You will be able to use CarPlay without changing devices, just like in my vehicle. I tried it with all iPhone models from iPhone 11 to iPhone 15. Carplay worked without any problems.
In this video, you will see that I can use Carplay in my 2016 Renault vehicle, which is not normally Carplay compatible. Additionally, you will be able to see whether all applications are working stably or not via Carplay.
NOTE: To use Carplay, your software version must be at least v3. I only ran carplay on software version 9.0.37. I haven't been able to do anything yet to confirm that it works on other versions.
