Boston University’s 150th Commencement Ceremony 2023
Held on Sunday, May 21, Boston University’s 150th commencement ceremony was a day of joy, reflection, and celebration for the Class of 2023. David Zaslav (LAW’85), president and chief executive officer of Warner Bros. Discovery, delivered the Commencement Address and received an honorary degree. Zaslav’s presence drew protests from students as well as from members of the Writers Guild of America. Others who received honorary degrees included Ketanji Brown Jackson, Associate Justice of the United States Supreme Court; Pamela Wood Avedisian, philanthropist and accomplished pianist; Stephen R. Karp, prominent real estate developer, Boston University Trustee Emeritus and alumnus; and Drew Weissman, Professor of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine and Edward Avedisian, alumnus, philanthropist, and career clarinetist, whose honorary degree was conferred in December but was cited at the ceremony.
