We are on episode 36 which means it is already three years since the Compiled & Mixed series began,” John Digweed tells Apple Music. “It is really special to see so much love for these mixes out there and also a thrill for me getting to showcase some of the finest up-and-coming electronic producers from all over the world.”
In all that time, it’s been the club legend’s mission to guide you into all corners of electronic music, pointing you to the sounds of some the best rising and under-the-radar talents—and this September 2024 instalment is no different. “This month starts with two tracks from an incredible producer, Alexander Church,” says Digweed. “‘Melia (Ranj Kaler 5am Sunrise Mix)’ is one of those lush, beautiful pieces of music that is full of emotion and sets up where this mix heads next. He says he wrote this to reflect his early-morning beach walks, so try to listen to this one doing the same for extra effect. There’s tracks from Ayesha, Choopsie, Dom Dolby and also a big piano anthem for summer ’24—HEW’s ‘Want U To’. Wrapping up this one, we head to Kyoto, Japan for Stones Taro, ‘Sink to Chair’. I played this one, and so many tracks like it on my lockdown Bunker Sessions of 2020—chilled breaks at their finest.”
