David Hurn, born in 1934, is a renowned British documentary photographer and a long-standing member of Magnum Photos.
His career began in the 1950s, and he gained early recognition for his coverage of the Hungarian Revolution in 1956. Known for his candid, human-focused photography, Hurn captured iconic moments of post-war Britain, as well as film sets, including From Russia with Love and *Barbarella*.
Beyond his work, Hurn has been a significant figure in photography education, co-founding the School of Documentary Photography at Gwent College. His approach emphasizes honesty, intimacy, and allowing subjects to reveal their true selves.
