When we divide a decimal by a decimal, we first change the decimal divisor to a whole number by multiplying by a power of 10. Then we multiply the dividend by the same power of 10. A power of a number is the amount of times a number is multiplied by itself. It's how many times we use that number as a factor. For each power of 10, we move the decimal point 1 jump to the right. Knowing that the decimal points will both move right the same amount of jumps, we see how many jumps are needed to make the divisor a whole number and just apply those jumps to the dividend. Sometimes, we will need to add zeros to the dividend as placeholders when the dividend doesn't have enough digits to move the decimal point to the right. We solve a word problem involving long division of a decimal by a decimal.
