Eddie taught me I didn't have to choose between guitar and keyboards.
So, to celebrate him, I picked one of my favorites, "I'll Wait", because it features such amazing parts for keyboards and guitar! I had never played it before: I learned and recorded it over the course of one night and the takes you see are the ones you're hearing (vocals were take 1, guitar was like take 15 or so :) ).
As always, you end up learning something new when picking up Van Halen songs. I always loved the solo from this song, but attempting to learn it made me appreciate it so much more. It's far from a note-for-note perfect rendition, but I think it captures its structure, which is what I found most interesting about it. I might make another video to dissect this structure, because it packs so much in only 16 bars. Let me know if you're interested!
