Access Your AI From ANYWHERE with Holesail
In this video, we dive into how to set up and use Holesail to securely connect to and access services on your Linux machine (or any computer) from anywhere using a direct, peer-to-peer connection that requires no setup, port forwarding, or anything confusing or complicated. Only a simple connection key and copy/paste.
Follow along as I demonstrate connecting to my home Linux machine from my MacBook, perfect for use on the go, whether at a coffee shop or an airport. We cover installing npm and node.js, tackling common installation issues, and setting up Holesail with Automatic 1111 for our Ai. By the end, you'll see how easy it is to run and access powerful Ai tools remotely and securely.
Commands from the video, in order:
• sudo apt install npm
(install node package manager so we can get our application)
• Y
• npm i holesail -g
(which might not work cuz you need...)
• sudo npm i holesail -g
(install holesail)
• holesail --help
(confirm holesail is working)
• node -v
(what version of node am i running?)
• curl o https://raw.githubusercontent.com/nvm... | bash
(install nvm to manage nodejs versions)
• nvm install node
(install current nodejs version)
• pinokio.computer
(get appimage for pinokio)
• chmod +x [drag and drop appimage here]
(add execute permissions so you can just double click to run)
• holesail --live [port number] --connector [enter secure connector]
(host local service over holesail so other devices can connect)
• holesail [paste same connector] --port [pick preferred port]
(port selection is not necessary, it'll select one automatically if you leave it off)
