Large enterprises are increasingly under pressure to secure their data from continually-evolving network attacks, many of which are hidden in encrypted traffic. Not only that, the ongoing rise in the number of connected devices, including IoT, has created more potential threat vectors for cyber criminals to launch advanced attacks such as zero-days and ransomware. Service providers and other organizations require business continuity to ensure the flow of information and the services they deliver across their network are continually available. This combination is forcing IT managers to search for a highly-reliable firewall that not only can scale to support a massive number of devices and encrypted connections, but also scan them for threats over multi-gigabit networks without slowing performance.

The SonicWall NSsp 12000 firewall series helps enterprise organizations overcome these critical challenges with a modern approach to security. Utilizing a massively-scalable hardware architecture plus cloud-based and on-box deep packet inspection technologies, the NSsp 12400 and NSsp 12800 deliver high-speed threat prevention in real time over millions of connections. These high-speed next-generation firewalls were designed with the flexibility to be deployed at the Internet edge or data center core.

When it comes to delivering cutting-edge threat prevention, NSsp 12000 series firewalls combine threat intelligence gathered by the SonicWall Capture Threat Network with cloud-based and on-box protection technologies. Enhancing SonicWall’s multi-engine Capture Advanced Threat Protection service is our patent-pending Real-Time Deep Memory Inspection technology. The RTDMI engine proactively inspects for threats directly in memory. This cloud-based protection is delivered through the Capture Cloud Platform to the firewall, augmenting the solution’s on-box security.

Like SonicWall NSa series firewalls, the NSsp series is built on a multi-core architecture that delivers high-speed security. The NSsp 12400 comes with four processor modules which can be increased to eight as your performance needs change. Or, you can choose the NSsp 12800 which comes with eight modules right out of the box. Both models feature both 40-Gigabit Ethernet and 10-Gigabit Ethernet ports as well as high-speed processors and robust onboard memory, all of which combine to enable lightning-fast throughput.

The NSsp series includes additional hardware capabilities that make it the perfect next-generation firewall platform for universities, data centers and service providers. For example, redundancy is provided through dual power supplies and three fans. In addition, both models include a pre-populated storage module that can store almost one terabyte of logs, reports, last signature updates, firmware backups and more.

As the use of encryption grows, organizations face another challenge. Not only must they be able to support a much larger number of encrypted connections, they also need a solution that can decrypt and inspect encrypted traffic for threats without slowing performance.

The NSsp series addresses this need by supporting a very high number of connections, both deep packet inspection AND deep packet inspection of TLS and SSL connections. The high-speed processors combine with parallel processing and SonicWall’s patented Reassembly-Free Deep Packet Inspection technology, to decrypt and inspect encrypted traffic for hidden threats at high speed.

NSsp series firewalls consolidate industry-validated security effectiveness and best-in-class price-performance in a 4U rackmount appliance. And, they run on the latest release of our powerful SonicOS firmware, which is filled with a suite of features covering networking, security and connectivity.
