I recently had to have an Ash tree taken down due to Ash dieback, a fungal disease that's decimating the Ash tree's in the UK. Sad as it was to see this tree go I will definitely be using all of it, the smaller branches were chipped and will be used for animal bedding, an amount will be chopped into logs to help fuel our home and I will keep quite a few chunks for turning. Like usual if I come across freshly cut wood I couldn't resist the urge to turn a couple of pieces..
I was curious to find out how green wood would react to fractal burning and if it would speed up the drying process. The moisture content when I started was around 38 and now it reads around 25. Its been 3 weeks since the tree was felled and there has been no splitting but the rim has warped on the vessel..
Please DO NOT attempt fractal burning unless you know what you are doing..
