What did I say? What did I freaking say?
Well thankfully it didn't get THE MOST views, but it still did well…so lets talk about that
For those new to the TikTok and Instagram Reels game, there are types of trends that go around the platforms that many people take part in and add their own spin to.
For instance, there is this sound bite of all of the Owen Wilson wows cut together and people create little compilations to the sound bite
There's also physical trends that happen, which I'm going to call challenges instead of trends, to not confuse people.
So now that we all are on the same page with the lingo, lets explain what happened here…if I can
For the longest time I avoided trends because they are exactly that, trends, there's no longevity in them, and while that may be true, I may have overlooked a key point: EXPOSURE
These trends may be tacky sometimes and honestly take little to no effort to make, but that's kind of the point
Trends happen because they allow even the least technologically inclined people to participate
Its a sound bite, that can be acquired and implemented onto a video within the apps, and is usually accompanied by a relatively easy editing style
This is where I think I want to start experimenting with trends and see what happens:
Throughout the upcoming videos I am going to be finding trends and trying to create my own versions of them with the goal of reaching an wider audience
While following these trends I will be tracking and taking notes on all of my findings
After a recent video did well on Tiktok I received this comment - he speaks English while uploading his Tiktoks from Germany.. The algorithm doesn't like that - he needs to change his settings
And change my settings is what i did.
I went into my content preferences and changed everything to English speaking. I’ve seen that this edit will only affect the content you see on your for you page and not the content you personally release, but i wasnt going to take any chances - if changing one setting can help me get one step closer to hanging out with Mr. Beast, then so be it!
Now another thing I did was use a VPN - and this method seems a bit more promising.
From the research I did, it seems that by using a VPN and signing onto an American server, I can trick the TikTok algorithm into thinking I’m posting in America instead of Germany, so I will have access to the American audience
Now this did have some conflicting information as well that also says it may not work because Tiktok checks the SIM card rather than the IP address, but once again…Mr. Beast
From this point on I will be posting videos while connected to the VPN and see if that makes a difference at all…and then I will report back to you :D
