The Manfrotto 323RC2 quick release plate is not flush on the bottom. To mount this to a sliding plate that attaches to the Manfrotto fluid heads (502AH, 504HD, 503, etc) you'll need a spacer. There's a lot of solutions out there. Here's another.
Known Issues:
○ The 1/4" to 3/8" threaded screw converters stick out from their screw hole under a millimeter. So it's not exactly flush. However, the rubber pads that the JJC spacer comes with compensates for this.
○ I wish I could get two screws in both the spacer and the 323RC2 quick release plate so that there is no possibility of it turning. Professional video cameras do this. That said, you can tighten it down fairly well. So far it hasn't been a problem.
