Is this really the American dream we were promised?
It hurts to see so much of our hard-earned money taken away. We pay taxes on everything: our income, our homes, even the things we buy. It feels like we’re always giving, giving, giving.
Every time I look at my paycheck or buy something, I feel a little ache in my heart. The government tells us how much we should pay, but it seems like we’re paying so much more.
I love this country. I truly do. It’s given me opportunities I never thought possible. But my goodness, the constant grind is wearing me down. Can’t we keep a little more of what we earn?
It feels like we’re always chasing tomorrow, never able to enjoy today. We work hard, we play by the rules, but where’s the reward? Where’s the chance to breathe, to build the life we deserve?
I’m grateful for what I have, but I can’t help feeling that something’s off balance. We’re told to reach for the stars, but our pockets are being emptied before we can even buy a telescope.
