Approximately 500,000 Child Benefit recipients have not yet received their June payment, which was due today (3rd June). This delay has left some unable to pay their bills, leading to potential late payment and overdraft fees. HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) has requested that people refrain from contacting them while they work “urgently” to resolve the issue, although no timeframe for the resolution has been provided.
If you have incurred charges then once you receive your child benefit payment and the wider issue has been resolved, contact HMRC with evidence and request redress - although there is no guarantee of success. Telephone: 0300 200 3100.
You will need your NI NUMBER and you will need to be the person who receives the child benefit payment.
