The Selkoups came from the word ‘shelkoup’, which means ‘a taiga person’. Eleven years ago family of Sergey Agichev moved to taiga. They purchased reindeer and made a kitchen garden. They brought up children. They arrive in the village only for gasoline and food products. There are not more than a dozen Selkoup families like them left in the north of Western Siberia.
