Most of us, unfortunately, receive hundreds if not thousands of marketing-related emails every day. They may often come from companies we’ve shopped with before or from various apps and tools we currently use. But these emails can easily clutter our Inboxes and one way or another affect our productivity and our response to important emails on time. So, if this sounds like you, you may certainly want to unsubscribe from emails that aren’t needed so you can clear out your Inbox.
Way #1 Use the footer Unsubscribe link
The most common option is to look for an 'unsubscribe' word and a link in the footer of the email you want to unsubscribe from. When you find it, you just need to press the link and manually unsubscribe from the email list. Once done, open the next email and do it over again. Although it can work perfectly fine if you have just a couple of newsletters you want to get rid of, it will eat a pretty good part of your precious time if there are more of them.
Way #2 Use filters in Gmail
What you need to do is just open the filter settings and in the Has the words field type the Unsubscribe word. So, any email that has this word will be either deleted or archived automatically (depending on what you prefer).
This option is pretty good for personal emails but sometimes it may filter wrong emails, so going this way for your business email address is at your own risk. Besides, the main drawback of this particular way is that you're not actually being unsubscribed from the emailing list but you just don't see these emails in your inbox anymore.
Even if some Gmail users can try it out and see how it works for them, users of other email provides may not be so lucky to have the opportunity at all.
Way #3 Use third-party websites, apps, and platforms
If you want someone taking it for you, take a look at third-party unsubscriber apps and websites that can come in handy.
With Clean Email, for example, you may sign in with your email address or multiple addresses, and it will filter things for you like newsletters and promotions. It will give you an easy option to unsubscribe from any newsletter or even pause if you still want to be on the mailing list but don't want to receive their emails at the moment.
There are also plenty of free services promising to do that work for you. The main problem with them; however, is that there is a privacy issue and there is a monetization issue—because the way they make money is by selling your data. I'm not sure I want someone to go through my personal data and emails, this is why this isn't a fit for me. However, if you don't mind that, this might be a really good option for you.
Try out all three ways and share your ideas and feedback in the comment section below.
