This video is not suggesting that you kill off your beneficial bacteria. Instead it is suggesting the gradual monitored shifting of where that beneficial bacteria is residing. Moving it ultimately to a much more stable part of the aquarium set-up.

Beneficial bacterial is in our aquariums is what helps to make conditions safe for the fish to live in a box of water while producing waste. Ammonia and nitrite come about from feeding our fish, their digesting of the food and then their releasing waste into the water.

The health of the fish depends to a large degree on having an established colony of beneficial bacteria consuming toxic waste, ammonia and nitrite (and even nitrates if you are able to establish anaerobic bacteria, a topic covered in another video).

So, why in the world would I be trying to thin out (kill) beneficial bacteria? Have I lost my mind? Well watch the video to understand the change and stability that I'm working on achieving. Take a look then feel free to share your thoughts in the comments below. Remember, "We all learn from each other" on this channel! So be a part of the "convo gang" and jump in. I enjoy reading your comments as well as the conversations that go on between all of you.
