I'm making an actual short film using AI animation, sound, and music tools. In this video I talk about AI filmmaking and my plan to make an AI film using some of the AI animation tools out there right now like Runway Gen-2, Thin Plate Spline, Articulated Animation, EbSynth, Stable Diffusion, Midjourney, AnimateDiff, and txt2video. I also touch a bit on using Eleven Labs for voice actors and Meta's MusicGen for music. Briefly, I talk about UE5.
The current generation of AI art tools aren't really suited to making a film but we are getting there. Runway Gen-2 is great but the animation is random and you can't prompt it. Stable Diffusion is great but it's still difficult to get temporal consistency. However, by combining these tools along with motion transfer github libraries like Thin Plate Spline - and by upscaling using AI tools like GFPGAN - you can actually do some nice consistent animation with a little bit of work. I also talk about Toky_Jab's grid animation method for Stable Diffusion.
Towards the end of the video I talk about lazy AI animation and the army of AI Wes Anderson film trailer clones and memes. Hopefully, people will start putting a little more effort into AI animation and filmmaking and the bar will get raised a bit.
I also briefly cover my own AI short film animation project.
