The Trevi Fountain, Rome's largest Baroque fountain, is a globally iconic landmark. Crafted from travertine and Carrara marble, it spans 161 feet in width and 86 feet in height. Initially deemed underwhelming, it underwent redesigns, first by Gian Lorenzo Bernini in 1629, though his project was abandoned, and later by Nicola Salvi in 1732, completed by Pietro Bracci in 1762. The fountain's grandeur has remained unchanged since.

Historically, the fountain marks the endpoint of an aqueduct built by Agrippa in 19 BC, guided to a water source by a young girl named "Aqua Virgo," depicted on the fountain. "Trevi" refers to its position at the junction of three roads. Visitors should note that wading or taking coins from the fountain is illegal. Currently, the fountain is undergoing restoration, with completion expected by October 2015, and a temporary basin is available for coin throwing, with collected coins going to charity.
