The game is played over a best-of-three series of rounds, as players unleash their hand by slinging spells and diverse units with special abilities and use clever tricks to deceive their opponents.
There are a number of factions you can plays as in Gwent, each with their own specialties and specialist units; Skellige, Northern Realms, Nilfgaardian Empire, Monsters and the Scoia'Tael. Complete with challenges to help you learn the game basics, ranked mode and casual quick-play there's plenty to keep you busy in the game.
