Stephen Li: It's a regional hospital, community hospital, within the Jersey City region. It's certified as 319 beds. Approximately per year about 80,000 patient visits.

Malcolm Green: Our network in our main facility, here, is about 200 APs, the very latest 832 generation. It supports the 0211.AC. We have all our clinical and mission critical applications running in the 5 Gig spectrum and even within the incredibly noisy environment that we're in, we find that to be very quiet and very efficient. Anything that is non-critical, that happens in the 2.4 spectrum. It's really been a nice division and with the multiple antenna capability of the APs we have we run both types of traffic without any problems at all.

Stephen Li: I truly believe the hospital environment is probably the most complex environment in any industry sectors. There's a large number of application that we support and a huge number of various technology.

Malcolm Green: We have a lot of clinical devices that are coming online that can only be delivered through Wi-Fi. Baxter infusion pumps. We have an RFID program that's going to be used to track critical equipment. We'll see different types of devices in use at different times. During the day it's obviously a lot of clinical staff positions. They have their own tablets, their own mobile devices. We have our hospital staff, their on hospital provided equipment. Usually work stations on wheels, some tablets.

Dr. Gongireddy: The mobile devices have become a big part of the changing electronic medical record system and the electronic documentation system and all the data of these various patients with these telemonitoring can be viewed on one product screen through the Wi-Fi.

Malcolm Green: One of the reasons we chose Meru was the idea and option to basically secure our wireless networking to be able to manage and track usage just in case there were problems. We're always concerned about HIPPA violations and we are always trying to make sure that we're HIPPA compliant. So, having a network solution that allows us to manage control access is critical.

Stephen Li: With Identity Manager we have the capability to monitor all of the devices within the Wi-Fi infrastructure.

Malcolm Green: So, Meru has a product called DZRF, kind of like the dashboard to your car. I can't imagine trying to manage a wireless network as complex as ours across multiple sites without having real time information on the health of our network.

With all the wireless tools we have available to us, the DZRF, we are able to very quickly pinpoint where the problem is and where the problem isn't. It's allowed us to deliver support a lot quicker, a lot more efficiently.

Meru really is at the very top of our list in terms of vendors. Number one, they have awesome technology. It's been not only very high quality, but also, very reliable. So, our uptime with our Wi-Fi is incredible. Being able to provide a really high quality, high performance internet service to all these people has been great.
