An active week of weather is in store as we close out the last days of meteorological summer in the Inland Northwest. A potent cold front will sweep the Northwest on Tuesday. That will bring a few stray showers to northern Washington and North Idaho. But the real impact will be the wind and a drop in temperatures.
Wind will gust at 35-45 miles per hour during the afternoon. Red Flag Warnings are in place from 2 to 8 pm for central Washington, eastern Washington, and the Palouse. In addition to the wind, relative humidity will drop to about 20 percent at that time. Basically, anything that could start a fire, will. Any current wildfire will become more aggressive and spread faster.
