10 Things I Use to Enhance Story in Photography goes over the primary things I look for to improve the storytelling power of a photograph in my career as an editorial photographer. These can be applied to portrait photography beyond the editorial work as well. This is not a discussion on basic principles of composition such as leading lines and rule of thirds, but rather about having your images resonate more deeply with it's viewers, and push the narrative of the text they accompany. I will follow up with a video on emotion, at least as I've experienced it within my career as an editorial and wedding photographer.
