In this Jazz Piano Lesson, I'm showing you a lick that incorporates a tri-tone sub over a ii-V-I line! This example is in Eb, so our tritone sub outlines an E triad shape before resolving. If you're ever wanting to pull one of these out on the spot, just think about playing a triad one half step above the root chord. That'll get you that cool tri-tone substitution sound.
