Mastering For Platforms – This video looks at Mastering For Platforms and if we actually need to. Many streaming platforms like Spotify specify a LUFS level at which they want music that gets uploaded to be at. And if the music you upload isn’t at this level, then your music will be turned up or down by the platform. So we master our music to fit this level so that the streaming platform doesn’t alter our music in any way. But is this really necessary?
In this video, we look at how platforms alter our music and if we are degrading our audio quality by aiming for a LUFS level instead of a great sounding track. I have also done an experiment uploading tracks at different LUFS levels to see how the platform changes them. This video is aimed at beginner to intermediate engineers, producers and artists.
