The famous Bayeux Tapestry is one of the must-see museums to visit in Calvados. Listed in the UNESCO Memory of the World Register since 2007, the Bayeux Tapestry is a true masterpiece of Romanesque art. It is an embroidery on canvas made in the 11th century, nearly 70 m long and 50 cm high. She recounts in the form of scenes the conquest of England by William the Conqueror. It is a unique document on life in Europe in the Middle Ages.
The Bayeux Tapestry also known as the Tapestry of Queen Mathilde name is embroidered xi th century listed since 2007 in the Register Memory of the World by UNESCO . Over 70 meters long, this comic strip features characters, animals and ships.
The Tapestry describes what happened between 1064 and 1066 during the Norman Conquest of England by William the Conqueror .
It is one of the three Bayeux Museum museums, with the Baron Gérard Museum of Art and History and the Battle of Normandy Memorial .
