This is a long video, discussing pros and cons of each and showing each in action, one after the other!

Sorry that it goes on longer than I envisaged at first, but these two mics are in my opinion, quite important for video enthusiasts.

These are real contenders for the Rode Videomic line up and are cheaper when you compare quality and prices. The examples on this video show the mics going directly into my camera. No preamps, so they are being shown exactly how they would work in the real world of vlogging, videoing on the go, along with associated problems of room acoustics and dealing with wind outside. No attempt whatsoever to doctor the sound or even touch it, other than normalise so that levels were pretty much the same. I didn't want to show them in a good light, but in the real world of videoing in a normal room and on the go to give a true idea of what you can expect in reality from two great mics.

Hopefully, this video might help you make up your mind if you are considering one or the other.

Both are excellent mics. Similar in sound as you will hear but each offers something different. Reason they sound similar …. same capsules but in a different barrel with the Pro version offering some nice touches.

The question is, 'Is the Pro version worth double the money of the standard D3?'

For those who contact me and want to know what I think is the best.....

The D3 is better than the Rode Videomic Go without a doubt. It's more on a level with the Rode Videomic without the bass bloom.

The D3 Pro is a definite alternative to the Rode VideomicPro+. Sound has less bloom in the bass and is quite even sounding in timbre on the sides in comparison to the front. Worst thing about both imo, is the very thing that Deity make a 'feature' of. That handshake thing. I feel that it might have been easier to have gone the TRS route with a patch rather than the TRRS route that they took. I feel that some may be put off by that compatibility thing, but a TRS lead seems to fix things if there is a problem.

Have a look and listen for yourself. Honestly, two great mics.
