AMSSM Advocacy Update | October 2024
This month's Advocacy Update highlights the second annual Physical Activity Alliance Symposium on September 19 in Washington, D.C, and features Dr. Leonardo Oliveira (AMSSM's Board Representative at the event) and Dr. Carrie Jaworski (ACSM President-Elect).
The Symposium featured a gathering of more than 100 physical activity advocates representing more than 75 organizations to discuss the promotion of physical activity policy at the federal, state, and local levels. The program featured expert panels on systems change, best practices, and policy advocacy.
AMSSM Director of Policy and Advocacy, Brian Williams, participated on a physical activity advocacy panel, along with representatives from the ACSM, NATA, YMCA, the American Heart Association, and the Health & Fitness Association.
