Holding a high plank is one of the most beneficial exercises you can perform to gain strength and muscle. It uses your own body weight as resistance, working your upper body and core at the same time. My 4th and 5th grade students get fitness tested on their push-ups each year. They always ask me ways to improve their score from last year. Here is a routine I do with my students to improve the number of push-ups they can do.
Your challenge is to travel from one area to another while balancing a sock ball on you. Holding a high plank one way and walking and balancing it on you head the other. All while sliding paper plates under your feet. Fun!!!
S3.E3.4 Identifies the components of health-related fitness. S3.E1.3b Charts participation in physical activities outside of PE class. Identifies physical activities as a way to become healthier.
Enjoy!
