Air Pollution Lesson Series - Lesson 02D: Classification of Pollutants
In this 18-minute video, Professor John Cimbala discusses the various ways to classify air pollutants - primary vs. secondary, natural vs. anthropogenic, Criteria Air Pollutants (CAPS), Hazardous Air Pollutants (HAPS). He also discusses the Clean Air Act of 1970 and the NAAQS (National Ambient Air Quality Standards) that were established then for the CAPS. Finally, he shows some data that reveal how air quality in the USA has greatly improved since the Clean Air Act was instituted.
