Selena Gomez is ready to take on one of the most iconic singers of all time: Linda Ronstadt. The pop star and actress will portray the legendary vocalist in a biopic that will explore Ronstadt’s life, career, and legacy.
Ronstadt, who is of Mexican descent like Gomez, is widely regarded as the most successful female singer of the 1970s and one of the best-selling artists in U.S. history. She was recently spotted at the Golden Globes, where she allegedly gossiped about her co-star Timothée Chalamet and Kylie Jenner, who were also in attendance. Gomez denied the claims, saying that she was just chatting with her friends Taylor Swift and Keleigh Sperry. Gomez and Chalamet starred together in Woody Allen’s A Rainy Day In New York, which was shelved in the U.S. due to the controversy surrounding the director. Gomez has also faced criticism from Jenner, who mocked her eyebrows on TikTok. Gomez responded by saying that she has no beef with Jenner and that she is focused on her career and happiness.
The biopic, which is yet to be titled, is expected to be released in 2024. It will be Gomez’s first major film role since 2016’s The Fundamentals of Caring.
