Are you looking to grow your YouTube Channel in 2021? In this series, I'll share with you the three MAJOR categories of growth.

To start with, there are typically three things you're doing wrong if you have not reached your target 1000 subscribers and 4000 hours of watch time.

#1 Mistake you have the wrong mindset.

Here are some examples.

If I upload videos to YouTube "they" will promote them for me.
If I upload consistently, eventually I'll be successful.
If I upload my best content, people will find it.
If I upload cool thumbnails, people will click on them.
If I upload great content, I'll eventually be successful.

Even the top gurus are teaching the wrong mindset.

Let me go into the right mindset, OK?
The right mindset, simply said, is "fair exchange".

Quid pro quo.
Give and take are other words for it.
Contribute compete.
And crush.

This is the right mindset you want to take with YouTube.

YouTube is giving you space in their network for free.
In exchange, for your participation, your promotion, you're sending people there..and your contribution for them to run ads on it.

So the right mindset.
When it comes to YouTube.

Is...

They are your partner.

They are there to partner with you.
What can you do about it? Well before we can get into that, we have to look at the symptoms of this 'wrong mindset'

A lot of people on YouTube these days are complaining about low view count, low clickthrough rate, low impressions, low scores, low subscribers, low reach.

It brings to mind I want to share with you a story.
It's a true story.

I was in my 20s and I went scuba diving and when I came up I had tinnitus and I have had a ringing in my ear.

And so I went to an ear, nose, and throat specialist and I paid him to diagnose my hearing condition.

He said it was congenital.

The cause is a deviated septum.
I didn't know what that was, but it turns out its part of your nose.
I said, well, I was scuba diving and I just heard fine before.
He said I can do surgery on your nose.

I asked, "well, will that fix my hearing?"

He said no, but if I did the surgery on your nose, it would fix the cause of why you have tinnitus when you scuba dive.

I said "no thanks" and I walked out of the office.

So a lot of you think of YouTube is Kind of like that.

OK, so if you wanna have surgery done on your nose to fix your hearing? It ain't gonna help.
That's why we put this course together.

Note: This is a recording of a live event that happened on February 18, 2021, with a small group of students. The actual training was 3 hours long and this is just a small excerpt of what we covered.

One of the top questions was what is the revenue split between Youtube and creators. To clarify that question I'll write the answers here as far as I can tell:

According to my research, the Advertising Revenue split is 55% to the content creator once you are monetized and a partner with YouTube. In other words, what I'm emphasizing is that content creators take an ACTIVE role vs. a passive role in monetizing their channels.

What this looks like is by having your content appeal to more premium and competitive advertisers and your audiences being in an industry that has more value, you make more money. By the same token, if you encourage your fans in other mediums such as email and social media to advertise, they can bid against each other which causes your revenue to increase.

When you start thinking of YouTube as your business partner, it makes you realize that your success is in YOUR hands. You as a content creator can increase your revenue, your CPM, your CTR by helping YouTube, just as you would help any business partner. By appealing to higher-value advertisers, you and YouTube make more money and everyone wins!
