Ever wanted to USE TWO TUNINGS on one dobro?
Here’s an introduction to the Doubleshot by Hipshot - a device that allows you to switch between two different tunings on resonator guitar by simply moving a lever. It’s super cool and I get a lot of questions about it so here’s the video with answers! Hipshot did not sponsor the video or pay me to do this, but they did give me this cool T-shirt. Like a lot of people, you’ll hear me use the words Doubleshot and Hipshot interchangeably, but the company is called HIPSHOT and the device is called DOUBLESHOT.
Considerations - it adds weight so if you’ve got neck/shoulder issues and play standing up it may make things worse, there’ll be some unwanted overtones and ringing to dampen, you’ll want a deeper case, and also be sure to get locking tuners & a rolling nut to help it stay in tune.
Have fun and post any questions and ideas in the comments!
